What is REALLY WEIRD???

I just read a couple of posts, where December says it's weird to take pictures of trains or decorate a guitar. I don't think either of those things are very weird. What would make the train pictures weird is if the man dressed the trains in huge lingerie first and then posted the pictures in the "Sexy Lingerie-clad Trains" tribe.

What else would be really weird? Going through the trash of famous people, collecting their nail clippings, and having a DNA analysis done on those clippings (if that's possible). Even weirder would be going through regular people's trash for their clippings.

Use your imagination here. What are the weirdest things you can think of? What is quintessentially weird? What would win the Nobel Weird Prize?

Invisibility, secrets, etc...

On the invisibility thing, I couldn't believe today...the person who has worked at this apartment complex as long as I've been here, that I've talked to, had no idea who I was. She knew I was familiar, but didn't KNOW exactly who I was. It was the strangest thing. I attribute it to my hair being longer than usual. Lots of other things, I suppose, I don't get all dolled up anymore either.

But I've talked to her so many times. About her breast cancer and about various managers who've been here, and all kinds of things. Today, I was a familiar stranger.

And the secrets thing. Do you get that online too? Because I do. People that tell you their "secrets" and then disappear. I don't quite understand that. I even wrote a "poem" about it, I wonder if I still have a copy somewhere?

This is random thought as I viewed the postings on the tribe, but I remember this chick in high school who, after everyone had to read their own poem, said to me "Why do you have to be so weird? Why can't you just act normal?"

I just looked at her and said "Then I'd have to wear a New Kids on the Block shirt like you and scribble I love so-and-so on my notebook cover with a glitter pen. No thanks."

Lately I've been rather inactive on tribe. Fear not, however, I have returned in all my Weirdo glory! In my hiatus I managed to quit my job, accidently break somone's arm, get laid proper, experiment with an entire alphabet of hallucnigenic drugs, act as a sylist and stage mom for my homegirl in the Faux Drag Queen Pagent last week in SF, and a myriad of other things. I have long associated myself with the label "weirdo". I believe my first exposure to weirdos (outside of my immediate family of weirdos) was Gonzo from The Muppet Show. I could relate to the Gonzo archetype (aside from the unhealthy sexual obsession with chickens). One of my early "outings" as a weirdo by society was a talent show in grade school. My friend Kelley, a dork, was going to put on a magic show and needed an assistant. Only a complete weirdo would allow a fellow 11 year old to cut her in half in front of the entire school while wearing an old dancing school costume and having the physique of Olive Oil. Needless to say, from then on out Kelly was perpetually a dork and I a weirdo. To truly appreciate the difference between weirdos and dorks I'll copy a post I made today in the "Sexy Dorks" tribe (which was the inspiration for *this* tribe):

I have to admit, I'm really more of a weirdo at heart, but there's no sexy weirdos tribe so I find myself here (plus I'm a huge fan of our sexy dork moderator!) So what's the difference between a dork and a weirdo you ask?

Well, Webster’s came up with this:

Slang. A stupid, inept, or foolish person: “the stupid antics of America's favorite teen-age cartoon dorks ”(Joshua Mooney).
Vulgar Slang. The penis.

Obviously, Webster’s wouldn't know a "dork" from a hole in the ground. I've never heard anyone call their penis a "dork"! However, their definition of weirdo seems accurate, especially the part about being potentially dangerous! ;o)

Seriously though, that's right seriously, I tend to think of dorks as a bit more intellectual than weirdos. Dorks seem more focused and have a higher aptitude for having those dorky obsessions. Weirdos are more ADD-ish. They're all over the place. Also, I believe the world at large likes dorks better. Sure, the masses may have teased the dorks back in school, but when it comes down to it they love and trust the dorks. The world knows that dorks are really responsible for all of the scientific breakthroughs, peace treaties, and great sci-fi films. Whereas, us weirdos, we're just a blight on society. Sometimes a random weirdo manages to endear themselves to the masses, but usually just for entertainment's sake and is a passing fad.

Maybe, I'm becoming a wanna-be sexy dork weirdo. I can think of worse things to be.
