Some bland compromise...
for the sake of remaining cautious.

    Whoa! Don't be so drastic!
    What do you suggest?
I'm willing to work with you, but with some trepidation...

It was time for a therapeutic provocation.

      Weird is probably...
      meaningful dialogue actually taking place.

Now there are at least 3 of us...
It's time to bring Pigasus back from the dead.

I tend to see a freak (in the classical sense) as an outward/physical state of Otherness, while a weirdo is more of an internal/mental state of Otherness...

It's an esoteric... but worthy question.
My definition is similar to the outward/inward differentiation...
A Freak is somebody who clearly does not fit in...
a weirdo may fit in... but it is not exactly clear why that person is strange untill ...
the moment they act it out... so a weirdo seems a little more dangerous...

of course there is no doubt those who are "gifted" with both attributes...
Ted Bundy... on the dark side... ( 8 balls )
and William James Sidis on the bright side. (odd balls )

Most "unusuals" are a mixture of the two.

            And while we're at it...
What is the nomenclature for those who display the traits of a hobbyist ( Sunday weirdo ?)
            and those who are full time ( 24/7 ? ) ?

is is possible to be a part time weirdo, or would you be a closet wierdo. I always figured being a "little off" was just part of who i was

That's probably the hope for the world's salvation from it's auto-destruction.

I'm an oddball... who is more than a little off... but I like a sense of normalcy...
It's an illusion that makes me more comfortable.

To a "purist" or someone with an otherwise rigid mindset, you could use punk rock terminology; "poser" for part-time and "hardcore" for full-time weirdos. I myself see our world as being more fluid, more chaotic; core aspects of humanity run on a continuum or spectrum.
That which is weird can become familiar, mundane, then normal over time. Normal can also become strange also if you live your existence on a weird plane. There is also the sensation of "jamais vu", the compliment and opposite of "déjà vu", in which those things familiarly seen suddenly become strange and unrecognizable.

          Goodness, what an interesting conversation.

It seems that something freaks and weirdos often have in common are being rejects--you know, rejected by others for whatever reason. Hence, someone who accepts freaks and treats them "normally" might be labeled a "weirdo". I'm sure that's one of the reasons I've always been considered one.
